Today, May 3rd I thought about Steve a lot. Yes, today was the day of his funeral and although I couldn’t be there, because I live in Spain, it didn’t matter. He was in my thoughts and I remember so well offering him his first job in the print and paper trade. I want to say that I am so glad that I got to know him. Larger than life he certainly was. Thanks for the memories Steve - you’ll never be forgotten by those who knew you!

Having worked closely with Steve for over 30 years, I developed great respect for him and this was mirrored by all who knew him. We met regularly and his passion for business, combined with his want to provide us with the highest level of customer service never faltered. Even during the toughest of meetings, he would remain calm and professional, whilst continuing to exchange a huge amount of banter and share a few of his wonderful stories...I am sure that many of you will know that he had a lot of them and no matter how many times he told them they would make us laugh and his great sense of humour would shine through.

It's been a privilege to know and learn from him, he will be missed by many x

Rose met Steve 30 years ago when she worked for the Griffin Press and I met Steve 22 years ago when I joined Zenith. Although operating on opposite sides of the fence, Steve selling and me buying we became good friends and confidants. We spent many an hour having a cuppa and a good old moan. I have great memories of trips abroad, Internationals in Cardiff and social events. Steve was always the greatest host. As everyone has said, Steve led from the front and was a font of knowledge and good advice. Rose and I both miss you.
RIP Steve xx

Jonesy, as an Englishman I was proud to be part of the Welsh mafia. You did so much for me on a personal and professional level. A true gentleman, a proud Welshman and somebody who was not only my boss but a friend. You helped others first before yourself, and you gave everything to Macs. I can't believe you've left us, you're sorely missed. R.I.P, Jonesy xx

I first had the privilege of meeting Steve back in the late 1970's when as a young salesman for Wiggins Teape, learning the trade, I often bumped into Steve as our works paths crossed. I looked up to Steve and admired the following and loyalty he had from his customers. His knowledge of the paper industry was second to none. It was through Steve that I joined RH back in 1983, where he became a great friend and work colleague, helping me adapt to the Robert Horne way of life. I have many great memories and am proud to have known such a legend. Unfortunately I will miss his funeral but my thoughts will be with Brie and the family. My condolences at this very sad time.

I have known Steve my whole life! A wonderful man in every way! Always there for anyone and one of the kindest men I knew! He was my sisters godfather, however, didn’t treat me any differently and often got us mixed up which would in turn create fits of laughter for everyone! A funny recent memory that springs to mind is after Emma’s hen do. A few of us were still there when the men came back from their night out, and me and Steve ended up sitting there having a deep conversation holding hands! Both had a few to drink I may add😂 but it’s funny that I can’t remember it at all and was told this the next day!
He will be missed very much as he was a massive part of our family-friend gatherings!
Thanks for everything Steve! Lots of love

To begin with Steve was a work colleague, he then became a part time mentor and then we became friends. Steve was always generous with his time and words of wisdom. I am both honoured and privileged to have been able to call him my friend. While I will miss him, at the same time I cherish the memories. Thanks for everything Steve, rest in peace.
