John IvorJONESIt is with great sadness that we announce the death on John Ivor Jones peacefully at home on 7th March 2025.
John had lived with his wife, Glen, in Mold/Mynydd Isa since 1992 - until moving to South Derbyshire in 2023 to be near to his family.
Born in London in 1927 to Welsh parents, John joined the RAF as a navigator when he left school. In 1957 he married Glen and began working for commercial airlines. He spent many years flying from Gatwick Airport and lived in Hertfordshire and Sussex. In 1979, he took up a post at East Midlands Airport and he and Glen moved to Leicestershire.
As retirement approached, they moved to Wales in 1992, and were very happy to be 'home'. Both John and Glen enjoyed being part of the community, and John loved singing with the local choirs.
John will be so missed by his daughters, Iona and Delyth, and their families - as well as the many friends he made over the years. John's funeral will be at Bretby Crematorium, Geary Lane, Burton on Trent, DE11 0QE on Friday 4th April 2025 at 10:45 am All are welcome
Please do not send flowers - your kind thoughts are sufficient. If you wish to make a donation in appreciation of John, his chosen charity is Bright Hope House NWL - which is a small local charity that supports individuals and families through life changing and life limiting conditions. www.brighthope-nwl.org.uk/donation/
