Dahiben Bhanabhai KARADIAMrs. Dahiben Bhanabhai KARADIA It is with greatest sorrow and sadness that my beloved and dearest mother, Mrs. Dahiben Bhanabhai Karadia, passed away peacefully at 07.10 a.m. on the morning of Friday 26th November 2021, with grand age of 107 years and 7months. Born at Dandi, Gujarat, India. DoB 10th April 1914. Formerly lived from 1965 to 1984 at St. Barnabas Close, Gloucester. Together with my Dad, they saved every penny to buy the four-bedroom house. This house was my parents’ well-earned honest money. Their heart and soul in the own home, as the saying goes home is where your heart is. My mum nurtured and was a pillar of strength, rock and courage with moral clarity helped to inspire the Asian community in Gloucester and Cheltenham. Our house was always full of community members at the weekends. Mum was the oldest Asian woman in London and the oldest Asian woman in UK. I brought both parents to London as their livelihood was made very difficult, uncomfortable and unbearable in their own home. Following my dad’s demise 8th April 1984 in London, my mum went back to her home in Gloucester. Two months later, I brought back to London to live with me. Yet, heart and soul was always at St. Barnabas Close. Mum was very well travelled. She kept very active and helping local community in Westminster area until she had a fall without any serious injury. I cared for her 24/7 until her last breath. At the age of eighty, she single handily refurbished our ancestral home in India. Mum was known in Pimlico as The Lady, with neighbours, that includes HM the Queen. At the tender age of 101 years, she was still climbing four flights of staircases. Mum has been blessed with good health and longevity. She mothered 5 children including 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great- grandchildren. Frailty, due to twenty months of the lockdown and shielding did not help at all, but not covid related.
