AliceKAYOn Wednesday evening, 10th April, Alice Kay (nee Heathcote) died in Royal Stoke University Hospital.

She was 93 years old and the last remaining member of a family of 10 children born to Joseph Sigley and Jane Ellen Heathcote of Dunvilles Farm at Monks Heath.

The family occupied and worked Dunvilles for over 100 years, starting in 1909. Alice was the youngest child, born in June 1930 and tragically, her mother died when Alice was only 4 years old.

She attended school at Chelford, afterwards helping her father on the farm and doing other work in-between times. A member of Nether Alderley Youth Club and St Mary's Church Choir in her teenage years, Alice was a valued chorister there until the time of her marriage in 1955.

Marital responsibilities then took her away from the area, allowing only brief visits during the rest of her life to see her many relatives.

Alice will be laid to rest in Nether Alderley Churchyard along with other family members, as she wished.
