David RonaldKINGMr David Ronald King, of Rawtenstall, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Sunday, August 22, aged 78. Born and raised in Pendlebury, he moved to Rawtenstall in 1988 with his wife Janet. Most of his working life was spent with Norweb and United Utilities, from where he retired. For over 10 years, David was Quiz Master at Ashlands Nursing Home, where the residents enjoyed his weekly visit, and his vast general knowledge proved very useful. He leaves wife Janet, son Jason, brother Peter, sister Debra, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place at Longholme Methodist Church on Friday, September 3 at 11am, conducted by Revd David Burrow. Donations, if desired, may be payable to either Rossendale Hospice or Longholme Methodist Church online at www. fredhamer.co.uk (tributes and donations). Such a lovely man and will be missed by us all. David will always be remembered with love and in prayers and especially for his generosity towards all the residents of Ashlands Nursing Home who loved his weekly visits and his quizzes which he delivered with his own unique sense of humour.
