Craig BerkeleyLANHAMAge 58, of Chippewa Township, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family, sadly losing a valiant battle with cancer after his diagnosis in August of 2021.
Born May 14, 1966 in Birmingham, England, he was the son of the late Colin Sydney John and Marian Jessie (Weeks) Lanham. Craig was schooled at King Edwards Foundation School in Edgbaston, England, and went on to be a graduate of York University, York, England with a degree in Economics and Politics. He then became a Chartered Accountant and worked for Coopers & Lybrand, Robson Rhodes and Sunrise Medical before relocating to the United States in 2007.
He worked for DeVilbiss in Somerset, PA, Phillips Respironics in Plum, PA and finally at Atrium Innovations LLC as Vice President of Finance. Atrium Innovations was purchased by Nestle Health Science of North America and Craig was a key player in the transition team.
Craig was passionate about politics, particularly English politics. He ran for and became councillor for Norton Ward and Stoke Heath in Bromsgrove, England and was elected Chairman of the Council 2006-2007.
He was honored to attend Queen Elizabeth II's Garden Party at Buckingham Palace along with his wife and sister and brother-in-law. He was the first councillor in the history of Bromsgrove to have a child born whilst in office.
Craig had a particular love for the history of World War II politics, especially Sir Winston Churchill. His other passion was Birmingham City Football Club, also known as the 'Blues', for whom he held season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed supporting his favorite Cricket team; Warwickshire County Cricket Club.
Craig loved to play golf, especially the links courses in Scotland. He had the opportunity to hold the Ryder Cup while working at the Belfry Hotel Resort in Sutton Coldfield, as a teenager.
He loved to travel, especially to Scotland, and in particular, to the Isle of Skye (the inspiration for our Skye's name) and the Scottish Highlands. In America, he loved Colorado, having the opportunity to see it while working in Boulder. Craig loved to play board games with his family and friends, usually winning.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Janeen (Person) Lanham, one daughter; Skye Lanham; one sister, Verity (David) Bowcock, one nephew, Toby Bowcock, and one niece, Tahlia Bowcock. He is also survived by his mother in law, Ellen Person, his two dogs; Tucker and Lulu, his dear friends Stephen Taylor, Jill Dyer MBE (Member of the British Empire) and Betty Webb MBE, and several cousins.
In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his father in law, Conrad Person.
Craig was a wonderful husband and father who provided for his family in every way. We loved him dearly and he will be missed beyond measure. Gone too soon my love, and we will love you 'always and forever'.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 10th at noon at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). There will be a luncheon reception immediately following at Sylvania Hills.
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions can be made to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001 in memory of Craig and/or to a soon to be established Scholarship Fund in his memory to benefit graduates of Blackhawk High School. Details will be available at his Celebration of Life Service.
