MargaretLEEMINGMARGARET Irene Leeming passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 14 at Moorhead Rest Home, Clayton-le-Moors. Margaret was born in Plymouth on December 3, 1927, where in 1944 on Plymouth Hoe, she met a Royal Marine, Tom Leeming. They married and had two children in Devon, Linda and Alan, and moved to Accrington in 1952 where they later had Jackie, their youngest daughter. Margaret and ‘my Tom’ were together for over 50 years until he passed away in 1998. Margaret worked in the old Accrington Market selling shoes and later worked at Tony’s record shop on Blackburn Road, before moving to Mary’s Music on Whalley Road. Margaret then went to Albert Harrisons on Queens Road before moving to Slingers butchers, and working in Darwen and Accrington markets before retiring in the late 1980s. Margaret loved her music, and all animals. She was an amazing knitter and quilter, and she loved a family party, where she was always the life and soul. Margaret, loving mother of Linda, Alan and Jackie, mother-in-law of Michael, June and Alex, a precious nana, grandma, gran, great-grandma and great-great-grandma to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who are spread across England and Italy. The dearest sister of Johnny and sisters-in-law Jean and Mary, and Aunty to many nieces and nephews. Remembering her Moorhead family who have loved and cared for her over the last nine years. Margaret will be remembered with much love and sadly missed by all her family and friends. Margaret’s funeral service will be held on Monday, September 27 at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematorium. The family asks that you wear something bright and cheery in memory of Margaret. Family flowers only please; donations are being received in Margaret’s memory on behalf of the Sea Cadets at www.sea-cadets.org/ donate or via champfunerals.com/ obituaries.
