ClaudeLENTONBorn on this day 100 years ago, just after the outbreak of WW1. He lived all his life in Leicester. After leaving school he joined his father's carpentry business and became a Master Cabinet maker. During WW2 he built army camps and then went on to repair Hurricane fighter planes. In 1941, he married Hilda at Holy Trinity Church, Hull, after meeting her at a Guide camp at Flamborough Head, where he was camping with his Rover Scout Troop. They moved to Leicester. After losing stillborn twins and a son, they went on to have three children - Jane (Me), Philip and Rosalind. He spent his life working as an aircraft engineer and inspector at Jaguar, Auster Aircraft and Rolls Royce. He had many interests, especially fresh water and sea fishing. He loved gardening and grew all his own vegetables. He was a perfectionist in all that he did and a hard working and loving father. He died suddenly, aged 81 in 1996, mourned by his wife Hilda and all the family and today we remember him with much love.
