Philip HenryLEWIS1954 - 2023 Sadly, passed away in the early hours of the 15th May. Philip spent his last hours surrounded by family and friends and wonderful neighbours. His son was with him at his home on Taliesin Place, Glanymor Park, at the end and one could not ask for more than that. Philip, son of Mervyn and Nancy Lewis, Coal Merchants, of Belgrave Road, Gorseinon; brother to Ann Murfin (deceased 2017) and survived by his sister Bethan Lewis-Powell, his much loved only son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, Richard, Jessica, Kaitlyn and Ryan Lewis, his brother-in-law, nieces and nephew. Philip, a lifelong supporter of Manchester City FC, regularly attended matches. A keen outdoorsman, he loved the Loughor Estuary, near where he lived, and spent many happy days river fishing in Carmarthenshire and driving around the Gower in his car. He enjoyed life and made sure we all knew it. The 5 o'clock club was a must at The Rev. He was a giver rather than a taker. His love of people of all ages was reciprocated and many have funny stories to tell about their encounters with him. He will live on in all our memories. Happy in his own skin. Lived and died in his own way. Never walked alone. Please send donations to Ty Olwen Hospice or Marie Curie Cancer Trust, if you wish to leave a tribute. His ashes will be scattered by the family, as he requested, on his own land, facing the estuary.

Uncle Phil, you are much missed.
I have fond memories of fishing, Belgrave Road, Bob the dog, coal lorries, chopping down trees and excellent cars! You were a wonderful brother to my mum and you were the cool uncle that every niece needs. With all our love, Rhian, Rohan and Niran xxxx

A message from Owen (Philip’s nephew)

I have young memories of convertible cars with Dire Straits blasting through Gorseinon. Family house visits with mysterious beautiful women. Fishing trips in his boat which only seemed to work some of time. Fun with Bob his dog, and dirty hands from the coal. Phil was an uncle of good taste and charisma. All done in a very Welsh way with lots of laughter, jokes and smiles throughout his life. He always seemed very happy and contented. Truly lovely person that was loved very much by my Mum and all the Murfin family.

Philip,as a youngster enjoyed coming to stay at his uncle’s farm outside Carmarthen. Where he helped my father with the animals. With very fond memories. Rest in peace.
