Our dear Auntie Val. Although living across the pond in Canada, we were blessed to have very fond memories of you. For instance, the first time you came to Canada, and went to Glynis’ cottage, and her husband had shot a duck. And a second time you came to Canada and it was Vicky’s 25th wedding anniversary, and there was a surprise “mock wedding” for Vicky and Stu. I do believe that all 4 of us girls got you say, a little bit tipsy. I think it was more fun for us, than it was for you!
At different times, we all made it to England and spent time with you there. Unfortunately, not enough, as our time was limited, and had to be shared with other family members, but still, very fond memories. I remember visiting you when you were running the Ship Inn in Fosdyke, and was completely mesmerized by the seals that were quite literally at your back door. You very willingly took me for a walk to get me acquainted with your animal neighbours.
The last time Glynis and I (Cynthia) came to England, we were fortunate enough to have Brian drive us to visit you. You weren’t able to walk very well, but were so excited to have us that you had ordered a strawberry shortcake for us, and bought us a wooden desktop calendar. To this day, both Glynis and I change the date each and every day, and think of you while changing it.
You had little pet names for us. Some were “pet” as I recall, but mine was “duckie”.
I know that we all have our own special stories and memories of you, and each of us will forever hold you dear to our hearts.
Rest in peace our dear Auntie.
Love to you always,
Glynis, Bridget, Vicky and Cynthia
