On the seventh anniversary of Patrick’s passing I’d love his family to know how privileged I feel to have met him despite only spending about 15 minutes in his company. I visited Patrick in Kestrel nursing home in Bushey a few days before his passing to give him, what turned out to be his last, communion. I have never been able to describe the joy that emanated from Patrick, as I held his hand, and shared a prayer with him. I felt at the time, quite inexplicably, that I was in the presence of someone special. I attended his funeral and remember the words that the priest said to me afterwards “Who knew what a great man was in our midst?” My meeting with Patrick had a profound effect on me. I shall never forget him and shall continue to tell people what an incredible gentleman he was. God bless him. X
