MurielLITTLEMuriel was born in Rimington but moved to Barley aged three, and spent a happy childhood in this village at the foot of Pendle Hill. Her family moved to Rishton when she was about 10 years old and Rishton became her home for most of her life; a place and community she loved. Muriel married Harry and they had a family of three daughters and a son. She worked as a shop assistant at Rishton and Great Harwood Co-op. Muriel was a talented seamstress and she made her own wedding dress, plus many clothes for her daughters as they grew up. She was a Girl Guide leader at Rishton Methodist Church for many years and was never happier than when she was camping out with the Guides at Bowley or Waddow Hall. She was an active member of the community, a lifelong churchgoer, a lady with a steadfast faith. She also loved to have a cuppa and chat with her friends at The Centre at Rishton. Muriel moved to Whalley a year ago to be near to one of her daughters. Sadly her health was deteriorating and she wasn’t able to join in with the community as she would have liked. She passed away peacefully after a short illness. Widow of Harry, mother of Marjorie, Sandra, Joan, and Dennis, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of two. She had lived a long and full life and will be missed by her friends, her children, grandchildren and two great-grandsons. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 3, 1.45pm at Great Harwood Cemetery, led by Rev Geoff Hays. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to Rishton Methodist Church.
