AnthonyLITTLEOn Thursday, January 20, Mr Antony Francis Little, of Accrington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, just after his 59th birthday, at Royal Blackburn Hospital. Born in Stirling, Scotland, Tony moved to Accrington with his family in 1965. He attended St Anne’s Primary School, then The Holy Family to see out the rest of his school days. He then went on to Naval College, but after a short spell in both the Navy and the Merchant Navy, he realised it wasn’t for him. He eventually settled in Accrington, working as a mental health nurse at a Blackburn Hospital for a while, before he found the love of his life - long distance bus driving. This took him all over Europe. Driving and vehicles were his passion, and he ended his working life driving local buses for Transdev. Unfortunately ill health meant he had to take early retirement. He was an avid football fan, Celtic for his Scottish heritage, and, of course, Accrington Stanley, where he was a season ticket holder. Tony and his two brothers served as altar boys at St Joseph’s, Accrington for a number of years, under the guidance of Father Henderson. Tony, the much loved son of Charlie and Phyllis Little, dad to Maxine and Antony, and grandad to Charlie, Isabella, and Sadie-Rose. He also leaves behind his son-in-law Jordan, his brothers and sister, Charles, Sean, and Maureen, and his nieces and nephews, Dominique, Katie, Luca, and Daniel. His Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph’s RC Church, Belgarth Road, on Thursday, February 10, at 10.30am, led by Fr Francis Wadsworth, followed by cremation at Accrington Cemetery at 11.40am. Family flowers are welcome, but we welcome donations to Play4Uz2 c/o funeral director. We, as a family, would like to thank all family and friends for their support throughout this sad time. Also, many thanks to Hyndburn Funeral Services and Ward C188 at RBH for taking such special care of all of us. And Townfield Care Agency for the attentive care they provided throughout Tony’s illness. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
