VanessaLIVESEYPassed away peacefully at East Lancashire Hospice on Tuesday, August 22, after a short battle with cancer, aged 71. An inspirational teacher, who began her career at St Patrick’s School Salford. Spending 17 years there before moving to teach at Rossendale School up until her retirement after a further 25 years in the teaching profession. Vanessa loved working with young people so much, she returned part-time as an Education Support worker at Accrington College before taking full retirement in 2019. Vanessa was a keen dart and domino player for the A team at The Green Squirrel Haslinden, where she will be sadly missed. Her other passion was keeping fit, spending time at the gym and taking long walks in the country. Vanessa was a loving and caring partner to Graham (deceased) and a devoted daughter to her mother Muriel and father James (both deceased.) She leaves behind a brother James, a sister Margaret, a half-brother Michael and two half sisters Kathleen and Marion. Vanessa was a loving auntie to Michael and great auntie to Tara and Quinn. Having no children of her own, Vanessa felt blessed and honoured to be adopted as the ‘English mother’ to Shindy and grandmother to Safa. Both of whom brought joy to her life. The funeral will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, September 13 at 11.40am. Family flowers only please. Donations if desired can be made to Save the Children c/o Dawn Winfield for Fred Hamer Funeral Services Rawtenstall.

Rest peacefully Vanessa, I recall you as vibrant, active and to always take on challenges, with fun, stealth and dignity.
I am blessed to be able to remember the fondest of memories that I can honestly say I hold so very dear.
Your independence and strength of character unquestionable. I witnessed you to those you held dear whom are blessed I am sure.
You will be missed more than I can express, yet I believe you will continue to watch over all.
May you reunite with your life’s love once more and embrace your unity.
It has been a privilege and a honour.
Respectfully …
Maria. xXx

Vanessa was a very gentle and thoughtful person. She was so loyal to my salon for over 25years and will be sadly missed. I'm so happy she became a mother and grandma to Shafia and Safa,we know she loved them so much as she would often talk about them. So sorry I can't make the funeral on Fri, but you will be in my thoughts xx
