I first met Rita in 1965 when I applied for the position of Shorthand Typist at G & G H Crowther. The 13 year age gap between us was not an issue and our friendship grew from strength to strength. Our music and fashion tastes were poles apart, me loving rock and roll and The Beatles, Rita absorbed in her choral music. She was instrumental in helping Mike and I choose the hymns and music for our wedding day service. We shall also be eternally grateful for the only colour photos we possess, which she took on our special day. We kept in touch after our children were born and her door was always open to have a chat and to share the happy and sad times we had through life’s journey. That essential cuppa was always on offer as we put the world to rights. She embraced new technology and kept in touch with so many people via email, Facebook, FaceTime or just a simple telephone call. Your warm welcome and open door will be greatly missed by everyone who knew you. Rest in peace with your beloved husband and precious son David. Our sincere condolences to her family. Love Sheila and Mike xx
