IanLORDof Heightside Avenue, Newchurch, Rossendale died very suddenly whilst on holiday in France, aged 71.
Ian was a retired Engineer and served his apprenticeship at ID Packaging in Burnley where he became a Packaging Engineer. He later worked at Ashe Laboratories in Littleborough as a maintenance engineer. After a short spell at Greenbridge Works , Rawtenstall and other Valley shoe manufacturers he formed his own company and worked within the local Footwear Trade repairing machinery until he retired early due to ill health.
Beloved & devoted husband of Deborah for 34yrs he leaves behind his much loved daughter Sharon and grandsons Kai & Oliver. He also leaves his dear brother Jeffrey, sisters Susan & Brenda, their partners and many lovely nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews. Brother of the late Keith & Sheila he will also be missed very much by many dear friends with whom he had great times. He will also be missed greatly by Deborah's family who thought the world of him.
Ian loved repairing and restoring cars & classic cars in his younger years and had recently driven both a Ferrari California & a McLaren on a racetrack. He latterly enjoyed building model railways & trains for his grandsons, eating & drinking with friends, travelling Europe with Deborah in their motorhome and spending winter in Fuengirola.
A "Celebration of Ian's Life" will be held at St Mary's Chambers, Rawtenstall at 1.30pm Wednesday 7th August.
