DonLOWNDESIt is with great sadness that we announce that Don (Jim) passed away peacefully on Thursday, 20th August 2026.
Don will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Don's funeral will take place on Monday, 28th September 2026, at 12 noon at St Oswald's Church, Ashbourne.
There is additional parking behind St Oswald's Church, accessible via School Lane.
This will be the main funeral service for Don, followed by a committal service at Markeaton Crematorium at 1pm.
The family have requested no flowers, please. If you wish to make a donation, there will be a collection
at both the church and crematorium. Alternatively, donations can be sent to Marc Stephens Funeral Directors
in Don's memory.
All donations will be divided between Cats Protection and The Ark, both of Ashbourne.
Don had a great love of all animals, so these charities will be very close to his heart.
Don loved bright colours, so if you wish to wear something bright on the day, please do so.
We would like to thank everyone for their support during this very sad time.
A very special thank you to all the staff at The Old Lodge Nursing Home, Etwall, for the wonderful support, kindness and love they gave Don during his stay. They made him feel part of such a big, loving and happy family, and we will always be grateful for everything they did for him.
