Jane Everall BaughLUGGJane Everall Baugh was a Trafford Labour Councillor for 30 years for Broadheath Ward (1990 - 2004) and Priory Ward (2004 - 2020), She stood for parliament in 1997 and 2001 in the Altrincham & Sale West constituency, only losing by 1500 votes in 1997 to Graham Brady. She was executive member during the Labour Administration, 1995 to 2004 and again in 2018 with several remits involving children and young peoples’ services and culture, environment and leisure. She was instrumental in the Waterside Development in Sale with Leader, David Acton, and in promoting the outdoor gym in Worthington Park. She was The Mayor of Trafford for 2011-2012. She was patron of the Alex Hulme Foundation, and President of Sale Brass Band and The Alma Singers. She was vice chair of Sale Festival and a member of Friends’ Groups, including Walkden Gardens and Worthington Park. She was also Chair of Governors of South Trafford College in the 1990s and a council governor of several primary and junior schools over a number of decades. After qualifying as a physiotherapist in 1964 from The School of Physiotherapy in Cardiff, she was employed in the NHS, at Touro Infirmary, New Orleans (1965-1966), in Altrincham, privately in the 1970s to 1980s and at Altrincham General Hospital (1987-2012). Her husband, Dr Peter J Baugh, FRSC., since her death, has commenced writing her biography in instalments and three short volumes have been published in her name, for the years, 1960-1966, 1967-1989 and Her Mayoral Year, 2011-2012. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Jonathan, David and James, Louise, Jemma and Julie, daughters in law, and her three grandchildren, Maya, Benjamin and Lily. Her interment took place at the Friends of Nature Burial Ground, Mobberley on March 06, 2020 and The Baughs Justgiving page, in her memory, has raised £5000 in donations for St Ann’s Hospice, whose team with family members provided tender end of life care for her.
