GwenLUPTONOf Lime Tree Grove, Rawtenstall, died at home on August 26, aged 90. Gwen, as she was known, lived in the Rossendale area all her life. She was the eldest daughter of Peter and Edna Harris and as a child grew up living above Bridleway Fish and Chip Shop in Waterfoot, which her parents ran. She was educated at Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School and after leaving school did office and secretarial work for various local companies, before getting married and bringing up a family. She was the wife of the late Barry Lupton, who ran a local painting and decorating business, which included shops on Bank Street, Rawtenstall and Newchurch Road, Stacksteads and she worked for many years helping him run the business. She enjoyed going out and socialising with family and friends and was a very keen traveller who in her lifetime visited numerous countries all over the world. However, her main interest was her family and to family members she was a much loved, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She leaves her sons, Mark and Paul, daughter-in-law Jan, granddaughter Sophie, sister Anne, brother-in-law Keith, nephews, nieces and great-nephews and great-nieces. Her funeral takes place on Tuesday, September 10, departing Fred Hamer Funeral Services, Rawtenstall at 10.15am for a service at Burnley Crematorium at 10.45am. Family flowers only. But donations to Rossendale Hospice in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
