When Pat and Mike came to live near us,little did we know how close we would become. We were so sad when Pat left us and now Mike has gone to join her. They were the kindest ,dependable and caring couple you could meet. Their advice at difficult times was given with no agenda and full honesty.
I will miss Mike hugely. So sad that the last time we spoke he was planning to come over. It would have been lovely.
There is a hole in our lives but it will be filled with memories of good times spent together. Both Pat and Mike had a great interest in what the children were doing and Mike enjoyed going to the rugby games and I loved going with him.
Deepest sympathies to all of you,his family.

It was with shock and sadness that we learnt from Kevin that Mike had passed away. It’s really hard to believe that we will not meet up again with Mike in the Autumn as had been the plan. We had been gifted many great times spent with Mike and Pat over the last two decades or so since they came to live here at Larch Hill Cross Roads in Cork. They had been so generous and kind to us in that time and we had shared our love for art, creativity and gardening; Pat had been active in our local art group, Canovee Circle of Friends group more or less right up to the end sharing her love of landscapes and in particular the work of Charles McAuley with the group. Pat was a brilliant artist all round and very creative in many fields including needlework and embroidery as well. Mike on the other hand was forever to be found in the garden maintaining his successional beds and orchard. He had remarkable skills in wood work and garden design and made many beautiful features that adorn this gorgeous cottage that we have been privileged to share and enjoy over the last few months. Mike had been so kind and thoughtful in allowing us to stay here while our new house is being readied. Our thoughts are with you, Yvette and Sammy Jo and all of the family, at this sad time.
