Barbara JoyceMACGREGORBarbara passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on the 13th of February in Cheltenham General Hospital at age 86. Barbara was born in Cheltenham on the 3rd of January 1938 to Jesse and Gladys Flint and was the older sister of Daisy. Barbara helped care for her little sister Daisy after she contracted Polio. Barbara went on to qualify as a State Registered Nurse, starting her training at age 16.
Barbara will be desperately missed by her beloved husband Douglas, whom she was married to for 63 years, their two children, Ewen and Fiona, and her grandchildren, Claudia and Cameron. Barbara fought a six-year battle with cancer without a single complaint despite years of treatments and hospital admissions.
We would like to personally thank Consultant Andiran Anduvan of Acute Care, Cheltenham General Hospital, who cared for Barbara on the day of her passing. Dr. Anduvan's caring and compassionate manner towards Barbara made things slightly more bearable, and we will never forget you. We are also forever indebted to Edward Jenner Unit in Gloucester and Cheltenham Oncology for their amazing care of Barbara, and giving us all the last 6 years to be able to spend with her. Barbara's celebration of her life and funeral service is on Tuesday 19th March at 1pm, at St Andrews United Reformed Church, Montpellier, Cheltenham.
Family flowers only. Instead, please send donations to LINC (Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund), who have supported Barbara over the last six years. May be left in the retiring collection or sent c/o SC And BS Cocks Funeral Directors 59 Hucclecote Road Gloucester GL3 3TL 01452 617 892
