JohnMALLEYJohn passed away peacefully at home after a long illness, with his wife Yvonne beside him, on October 26, aged 74. Born in Liverpool, John won a scholarship to St Edward's RC College and then attended Liverpool University. After many years as a personnel manager for Littlewoods Stores, John went on to become a director of an HR consultancy and in 1995, together with Yvonne, he formed the very successful HR and Safety Consultancy, First Business Support, here in Rawtenstall. By the time the company was sold in 2007, it employed 150 people. John was a former trustee of Civic Pride Rossendale until ill health forced him to step down in 2020, but remained a staunch supporter. A lifelong Liverpool FC supporter and keen skier, John always threw himself into things with enthusiasm.
He loved to travel, see the world and drive beautiful cars. As well as his wife Yvonne, to whom he was devoted, John leaves behind daughter Sue, John’s son Mike sadly predeceased him this year, daughter-in-law Claire, stepsons Phil and wife Joyce, and Lindsay McGuire, grandchildren Jess and husband Josh, Joe, Grace and Freyah. He also leaves his older brother Eddie, who was like a father him, sister Margaret, nephews, nieces and many good friends.
John was a kind and generous man, always optimistic and with smile that would light up your day. He will be sorely missed.
After a brief service at Hamer’s Funeral Services in Rawtenstall on Thursday morning November 9, the main funeral service will be held at Springwood Crematory at 12pm followed by a committal at St Mary’s RC Church, Woolton, Liverpool. A wake will follow at Allerton Manor Golf Club, Liverpool.
