Deepest sympathy from your nephew Tony. Especially to Glen and Tim.

I will never forget the night in 1977. We had a big fire in the centre of Grimsby, I was about to cross the road when a corporation bus stopped. The doors opened and the driver beckoned me to get on the bus. It was uncle Bob, he turned to his passengers and said “this is my nephew”. I obviously had full fire kit on, I received a round of applause. Then I took a bow and said “got to go”. What a thing to happen!!

From when I was a little boy, all I remember is uncle Rob with a permenant smile and a love of life.

Tony x
