David Frederick JohnMASONDave Mason passed away just after 17.00 hours on Saturday 14th October 2023.
It was a peaceful passing at East Surrey Hospital after 4 days of inpatient care. He had been ill for 6 months in East Surrey and then spent 6 months at home before his last admission.
He was an intelligent man with many interests including firearms, munitions, photography, history, natural history and classic cars. He was fond of his friends and neighbours and the many cats which adopted him over the years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He will be remembered for his dry sense of humour, sharp mind and DIY expertise. He enjoyed caring for the many fish that inhabited the pond in his garden, and feeding the birds which would flock to the feeder outside his window.
Dave's funeral will be conducted by Ballard & Shortall in East Grinstead. Please contact Ballard & Shortall if you wish to donate to the National Cats Adoption Centre in Chelwood Gate or the Sussex Community NHS Charity in honour of the Urgent Response Team in memory of Dave. They will be gratefully received.
His funeral will take place on 16th November 2023 at 11.30 hours in Our Lady and St Peter's Roman Catholic Church, London Road, East Grinstead, RH19 1EY. Dave's burial will take place at Mount Noddy Cemetery, Blackwell Road, East Grinstead, RH19 3HP at 12.45 hours followed by the wake at CJ's Café Bar, 55/57 High Street, East Grinstead, RH19 3DD
