A wonderful piano teacher. I adored our weekly lessons as we would talk as well as play and he would tell the most wonderful stories. Many treasured memories. Love to Liz, whom he loved so much. Rachel xxx

We feel very lucky to have known you Doug. Maya was so fortunate to have you as her piano teacher these last 6 years. We enjoyed your lessons which were always filled with stories, anecdotes, laughter, encouragement and kindness. We enjoyed many film nights (and the popcorn of course!) and shall think of you whenever we hear Maya play. Lots of love to Liz and all the family xx

Mr Matthews was a lovely gentleman and a wonderful music teacher. He was also a friend of my late Dad, Gordon, who often spoke highly of him. RIP Mr Matthews. Sending condolences to your family at this sad time.

Doug was a true gentleman a great teacher of music which I will niss. His encouragement to me made lessons fun.
His contribution to the Willow Club as both a member, pianist, and President was really highly appreciated.
I will miss him but not as much as Elizabeth and his family.

Doug was a true gentleman and an amazing human being. He was blessed with integrity and a kind, gentle demeanour. He will be badly missed by Liz and all his loving family. Rest in Peace Doug - you’ve earned it xx
