DerekMAYPassed away peacefully at home on 10th September, aged 73. Many will remember Derek from his days as a green-grocer at Bentley & May stall on Rochdale Market. Loving husband of Gwyneth and dad to Jeanna and Adam and grandad to his six granddaughters Lia, Briony, Macy, Twyla, Channing and Gilon. Also, Dayle - soon to be grandson-in-law and Danny, a very helpful friend. Thanks to Milnrow Village Practice, district nurses and Springhill Hospice who helped him during his long illness. Funeral to be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Monday 4th October at 11.50am and then on to Milnrow Cricket Club. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Springhill Hospice or Stroke Association. All enquiries to S Wellens & Sons Tel: 0161 4645609

14th July 2026 Hi Derek, another birthday to celebrate today. Leslie is 84 and I was 81 two days ago. You never got the privilege to get to our age neither did my John. I presume Leslie and Marie will be going out for a meal and maybe Tristan will go with them. I only tend to see Leslie and Marie once a year and the same with Gwyneth. But I do talk with Gwyneth on a regular basis. The trouble with getting older is the aches and pains that go with it. Plus the mobility. Love and miss you little brother. 7th July 2026 hi Derek, as you will know it is Gwyneths birthday today. I can remember all the lovely clothes you use to buy her, everything chosen by yourself.
