MCCOLLINAllan 'Known as Mac' Born 22 October 1926 and brought up in Gypsyville. After serving an apprenticeship as a coach builder and service in Palestine and Egypt with the Royal Engineers he married Annie Shaw, widow of Raymond Shaw with 2 sons, Stephen and Andrew, on 26 January 1952 and moved to Preston Road where Christopher was born. Brought the family to Lime Tree Avenue in Hessle in 1956 where Duncan arrived in 1958. Spent most of his working life as a joiner in the caravan industry, including running the ABI factory on Hessle Foreshore, but also worked for a time at Dunstons shipyard and latterly at Jacksons on Hull Road, Hessle. After the kids left home, settled in Eastgate in 1984. Loved gardening, walking, listening to the music of the big bands and Frank Sinatra, weekends away in the caravan at the seaside and holidays all over the UK. He entered residential care at Hesslewood House in 2016 and died there on 29 June 2018. Would try anything once - including cannabis! Great sense of humour, blunt opinions but meant well, could turn his hand to most things he put his mind to and brought his kids up knowing what's right and wrong and the value of hard work. God bless Dad, you'll be sorely missed. A service to celebrate the life of Mac will be held at 1.30pm on Monday 23rd July at the Haltemprice Crematorium Willerby Family flowers only please, but donations to The Macular Society may be left at the service. Any enquiries to Rudstons of Hessle The Chevin, Beverley Road, Hessle. 01482 649065.
