FrancisMCDERMOTTSadly passed away on the 8th July 2026 aged 87 years, after a brief battle with cancer. Frank hailed from Laragh, Co.Cavan in Ireland where he had five sisters, survived by Bernadette and one brother. Moving to Coventry he married his wife Kathleen (deceased) and raised four sons Kieran, Stephen, Philip (deceased) and Garry. He had seven grandkids and eight great grandkids. Frank was a champion cross country runner in Ireland and represented his country three times in the International Cross Country Championships. Frank continued to run after moving to Coventry with Godiva Harriers in their 60's heyday, he then became a stalwart with St. Finbarr's GAA Club where he covered a multitude of roles, culminating in becoming a Life President there. Frank became the friendly face of car parking at St. Finbarr's on Coventry City match days and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family and partner of many years Sadie, invite all who knew Frank to celebrate his life and give him a great send off.
There will be a final lap of honour at St. Finbarr's GAA pitch on Monday 10th August at 10.30am before the funeral service at All Souls Church, 11.15am, cremation service will follow in Cannon Hill Chapel, Canley Crematorium at 12.45pm.
