over the short 21 years i got to spend with nanny, she put so much light into other peoples lives, she was definitely not a woman of few words, and if she wasnt talking she was eating! i know i get appetite from her!
nanny was an extraordinary woman, her laugh lit up a room, and her love was never ending.
Anytime i had the smallest achievement and i told Nanny, she made me feel as though I had just won the world cup - she’d say “Oh Ems - That’s Brilliant, isn’t that lovely”, and she would smile at me as if she’d never been prouder.
I have so many happy memories of Nanny, some i’m too young to remember, like her whoopy cushion moment, but the others that i can remember will stay with me forever, her tucking me up in bed telling me to have “40 winks”, another is her always telling me theres room for pudding, while eating a good sized portion of apple pie and custard or trifle, her sewing my teddy and blanky up for me when they tore, her waving me and grandad down the road to go to the coffee shop!
My favourite memory of all was when she’d asked me if i had chosen my name for my confirmation, I said Nanny i’ve chosen your name, i’m not Emily Ann anymore i’m Emily Anastasia now, she didnt reply for a second but she said oh ems oh ems thats lovely isn’t that lovely dad and the smile on her face when they read it out at the ceremony is one i’ll never forget.
i am truly very blessed to have known her and i am honoured she let me share her name.
her memory is one we will carry on and will never forget, and i can truly say my heart will never be the same.
i know Nanny will be watching over all of us,
i will always be grateful to have had you as my Nanny,
thank you for being the best nanny ever you will always be my angel i love you
