My dear Roland,

I’m so proud and privileged to have known you from the start of our time together at Ysgol David Hughes and very thankful that you were such a great, loyal, humble and cheerful friend who helped me through a challenging time during the last few years of school and my time at university. When I was home from university studying for exams, I could always look forward to a fun evening out with you.

I’ll also be forever grateful that you drove all the way up to Aberdeen for my wedding. Having a group of my school friends there really made our big day even more special.

I’m really sorry that we didn’t keep in closer contact since then, but I wasn’t surprised to hear you’d put your great practical skills to excellent use in a vocation you clearly loved. I remember the brilliant job you made of rebuilding the buckled back wheel of my prized bike after my high speed unplanned dismount on the roundabout in Menai Bridge.

My deepest condolences to your family for having you taken from them so soon and I wish them all the best in rebuilding their lives around the huge hole you’ve left. I’m also so sorry I can’t be there for the gathering to celebrate your life.

With fondest memories,
Stu x

Roland was such a kind, gentle and caring person. A true gentleman with a great sense of humour. Still hard to believe he is no longer here. He will be missed by so many.
