Sad news, a well respected teacher during my years at Saintbridge School (76-81)

This is incredibly sad news - Mr Mckay was my form tutor & English teacher throughout my time at Saintbridge School in the 1980s.
He was an inspiration, motivating me to continue studying, reading English Literature at university and pursuing a career as an advertising copywriter.
Some people leave indelible marks on us, Mr Mckay was definitely one of those people.
So sorry for your loss.

This has brought a lump to my throat and a fair few tears. I found out (today 7.1.24) from my friend in Canada - who like me was an ex pupil of his.

Mr Mckay was my house tutor & my English teacher too, whilst at Saintbridge (circa 1981-1989).

I remember him so vividly and was a real inspiration. He influenced me to be a teacher (Primary) - unknowingly to him! And he also inspired me to always ride to school too (I always remember him on his old school black bike riding up or out of Cotswold road and locking up in the staff bike shed) - literally since being a teacher in Portsmouth.

I sincerely wish all the family well during these sad times, yet knowing how much ‘Mr Mckay’ meant to us.

Keep strong … a very sad loss.

Rest in peace Mr Mackay.
