BillMCLOUGHLINDerek William McLoughlin, known as Bill, had a full and busy life. He attended Alder Grange Secondary School where he became head boy and captain of the football team. At 15 years old he became captain of Rossendale Boys Football team and later was captain of Goodshaw United (for 12 seasons). He supported Burnley Football Club then supported Manchester United with his son Peter. He was a member of Goodshaw Brass Band and member of Rawtenstall Conservative Club at age 21. He did his National Service in Germany then started his own plumbing and heating business, employing his son Peter. After football he became a popular member of Rossendale Golf Club until 2009 when he had a massive stroke and ended up in a wheelchair. He and his wife Katie enjoyed caravanning here and abroad, as well as walking. He leaves his beloved wife Kate, three children John, Patricia and Peter. Seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also two stepchildren Russell and Alistair. A funeral will take place on Wednesday, July 17 at Goodshaw Baptist Church at 11.45am conducted by Rev Stephen Crook, followed by a cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 1pm.
