Loving husband to Marion. He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday 27th March 2024 at Gedling Crematorium, 11am.

Derek McMurdo (Mac) was a formidable colleague, boss and inspiration. His awesome grasp of Local Government finance was, I think, unrivalled except by his knowledge of Nottingham City and the council's history, its politics and its people. A few months ago he told me he had forgotten all that expertise. I doubted that very much. He was a force of nature in his prime and widely admired.

I had the privilege of working with Derek when I was young and at the beginning of my career. I learned from him the importance of standards and precision which stood me in good stead throughout my working life. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Mrs Debra La Mola
