Patricia (Pat)MEANWELLIt is with tremendous sadness that Pat Meanwell's daughters Sarah, Sophie and Fiona, announce the loss of their wonderful mom. Pat died peacefully after a short illness on Friday 01 July 2022 in the Pilgrim Hospital, Boston with Sophie, Fiona and Ross by her side. Despite her short illness, Pat remained true to her tenacious, thoughtful, compassionate, generous, sassy self, and it was a privilege to spend those precious moments with her. Pat was born on 01 April 1944 in Lincoln, to parents Joseph and Mary Barwise, and leaves behind a loving family who miss her dearly: daughters Sarah, Sophie and Fiona, sons-in-law Anthony and Ross, grandchildren Duncan, Brent, Lara and Zoe; brothers John and Nev, sisters Linda and Marie; brother and sister-in-law Rod and Liz; many nieces and nephews from her seven siblings and late husband David Meanwell's family. Pat had a professional legacy that she and her family were incredibly proud of. Beginning fresh faced from school as a nursing cadet and including years spent working abroad in Zambia and Zimbabwe, Pat's nursing career spanned 47 years. Most of Pat's career was spent at Lincoln County Hospital and most latterly on Branston Ward until her retirement at 64 years of age. Pat's professionalism, high standards and compassion always shone through and her keen eye for a hospital corner never diminished. Though she may not have realised it, she made a huge, positive difference to her colleagues ('you never had a bad shift when Pat was on!'), students, and most of all her patients throughout her career. There was solace at the end that her final hours were within the nursing environment she was most comfortable in, surrounded by family and an incredible team of medical professionals in the Pilgrim's A&E Department. Pat had numerous close friends, many of long-standing from school, nursing cadet days, and many from Branston Ward/BRAs, as well as the friends she made more recently as a member of her local U3A. Pat's friends enjoyed her friendship, companionship and remember her with love and fondness. Pat's family extend their huge thanks for the care she received from paramedics, Lincoln County Hospital A&E Department, Boston Pilgrim's A&E Department and Ward 5B. You were all incredible, and we are grateful for the professionalism and the wonderful care and compassion Pat received. Pat was an inspirational woman; fiercely independent, had a zest for life, generous with time and thought, an infectious personality, and a knitter and sewer of the highest order. Her premature passing leaves a mom/Pat sized hole that can never be filled. We will look for you on the brightest star in the night sky, may you always shine bright. Pat did not wish to have a funeral; instead, her daughters will arrange a celebration of Pat's life (aka knees up) and will communicate details to family and friends in due course. Pat expressed her wish that any charity donations should be made to Cancer Research.

I met Pat when I was a patient when she worked on Branston ward...she was so caring. I then found we lived in same village. She asked after me every time she saw me. I wont ever forget Pat. Im now the hospital chaplain and she was always delighted and proud of me. RIP Pat x
