Edith DoreenMERCEREdith passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at White Ash Brook on November 24 2023 aged 97 years and formerly of Clayton-le-Moors. The devoted wife of the late Daniel, loving and loved mum of Eileen, John, Robert, David and Steven and a cherished nan, great-nan and great-great-nan and also a dearly loved relative and friend to many. Edith will be missed by all her family and those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Born in Llanelli, Wales, Edith made the move to Lancashire where she spent her life living in Clayton-le-Moors. She was a well known and loved face in the local community and spent over 60 years living in her much loved home on Pickup Street. She was a hardworking lady who began her working life aged 14 in the local bakery, over the years she worked for various places including Mount Pleasant School and Accrington Victoria Hospital. She loved to cook and her meat and potato pies and broth were always looked forward to by all of the family. She was the most doting family lady and always looked forward to spending time with her nearest and dearest and she loved nothing more than the family coming together for a celebration. Edith loved her holidays and Blackpool was her favourite destination, she would visit several times each years and loved to attend shows. Edith’s funeral service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, December 13 2023 at All Saints Church, Clayton-le-Moors followed by Committal at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please.
