StephenMETCALFPeacefully in Royal Blackburn Hospital on Saturday 22nd August surrounded by his loving family, Stephen Metcalf sadly passed away aged 78. The son of the late Jim and Annie, brother of the late Chris and partner of the late Lilian. He leaves behind his adoring wife Edna, siblings Teresa and Gerard, daughter Julie, stepchildren Stephen, Anthony, Richard, Matthew and Gemma. He was a devoted grandad, great grandad, father in law, brother in law, uncle and friend to many.
Stephen started his career at Shopfitters in Oswaldtwistle before forming his own shopfitting company Stephen Metcalf Ltd.
He played cricket for Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket Club for many years. After retirement he took up golf and played at Accrington and Fairhaven.
He loved holidays and had travelled the world!
A Requiem Mass will take place at St Mary's Church, Oswaldtwistle on Thursday 10th September at 10am, followed by a family burial at Dill Hall Lane Cemetery. Following the funeral all are invited to Church and Oswaldtwistle Cricket Club, Blackburn Rd, Oswaldtwistle to celebrate the wonderful life that Stephen had.
