Wendy always made me feel welcome when I came to see Liz, and was a bit of a surrogate mum to me. A lovely lady, who was very talented, and made my boys some lovely things when they were little (which I still have). Rest in peace and comfort xx

Elizabeth (or Buff as I call her) has been one of my best friends since we were 3 years old. Wendy was a second Mum to me at times like when I tried to microwave peas for the first time and it went horribly wrong - I rang Wendy in tears and she gently explained to me that I needed to have put water in the bowl with them. She once made Buff and I ‘cheese ducks’ - she used a duck shape cookie cutter on those individual slices of cheese. I LOVED them and so she often made them for me, even sending me a plate of them round to my house when I was having a tough time. I’m one of those people that weird stuff happens to and Wendy loved to hear about my latest disaster. She once said she was sure I was put on the planet so that other people could laugh at my misfortunes. I had my first baby when I was very young but Wendy didn’t bat an eyelid, instead supporting me and adoring my little one. Thank you for your wisdom and kindness Wendy and I hope you’re up there introducing others to the joy of cheese ducks xxx

We never had the chance to meet Wendy but this didn’t stop her from knitting a little cardigan for our baby girl followed by a beautiful quilt. We’ll treasure them both always, and proud to be members of the Wendy Mickel Cardigan Club! Thinking of you all and sending you all our love
