MIKE PLIMMERMike Plimmer, one of the best-known figures in Stoke-on-Trent Schools' football, died from cancer at the age of 65 on 12 September, 2009.Plimmer ran City sides from the ages of 12 to 15 in a long association with the local schools' game.He was also in charge of the Staffs side that reached the final of the English Schools' Football Association Under-18s county cup competition against Sussex two years ago.It was after that game that Mr Plimmer collapsed and was diagnosed as having cancer, but he bravely battled on and the Staffordshire side reached the semi-finals last season.Mr Plimmer, who lived at Werrington, was assistant head teacher at Maryhill High School and was on supply at Moorside High. His colleague Mel Maskew, Stoke-on-Trent Schools co-ordinator and a past chairman of the Staffordshire Schools Football Association, said: "Hundreds of boys will have played for Mike Plimmer."He helped to resurrect Stoke-on-Trent boys' teams and did a fantastic job."http://www. thisisstaffordshire. co.uk/ news/Football-School s- football-stalwart-di es/ article-1360329-deta il/ article.html [thisisstaffordshire .co.uk]

Hi granddad. I only remember you very briefly, as I was born just two years before you passed. However, I'm sure you were an amazing person and you seem to have left an impact on so many lives. Of course, I feel a bit upset that I never really got to know you, but I know that you're in a better place now and you're always watching over me. Love you lots, wherever you are xxx
