Such sad news. Such a good man. It's been a long time, but I have fond memories of Bob from the days when we were both in Leicester.

Desperately sad to hear the news. It was always a pleasure to talk all things football with Bob over a drink and a crossword.

I was very sad to hear that Bobby passed away. He was really lovely bloke. I worked with Bobby while I was a student at the Institute of Food Research in Reading. Bobby was a very kind friend and mentor. There were many good days and nights, watching football, talking about his Newport County AFC, drinking real ales, talking about music, Status Quo and Deep Purple, and of course science too! There was a really nice group of people in Reading, and Bobby was one of the main ringleaders, organizing nights out and Christmas pup crawls, etc. I have many nice memories from my time there. Like Bobby, I`m terrified of flying, and I`ve lived in Japan for past 15 years, so I wish I could have stayed in touch better. Bobby was one of the good guys, and I am sure he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bobby was a lovely human being who was always beaming with happiness. His company brought glee to all of us who had the pleasure and privilege to enjoy it. He possessed a great intellect and wit. He was an exceptional scientist. I expect that Bobby is now sitting comfortably amongst the angels enjoying the happy banter as he sips a pint with them. He will always be much loved.
