Eileen JudithMULLANEYMrs Eileen Judith Mullaney (formerly Clement), of Haslingden passed away peacefully on June 5 at
Turfcote Nursing Home, aged 79.
Eileen was born in 1946 to James and Gladys Clement at Random Row, Stacksteads.
Her family home was at Rossendale Crescent, Bacup where she lived until marrying Michael.
They moved to live in Haslingden in 1968. Eileen was well known in Haslingden having spent many years working for Lancashire County Council as a Home Help in the days when close relationships were formed between
client and helper. Before Home Helping, Eileen worked at Hargreaves St Mill (Square factory), and Shoe Findings
in Bank St.
Eileen met her husband Michael whilst working as a stores assistant at Union Garage, Cloughfold.
Two weeks after marrying the garage closed trading, and both were made redundant.
Eileen's first job upon leaving school was at Heyworths Outfitters, Stacksteads as an alteration hand.
Eileen leaves Michael, her husband of 58 years, daughter Rachel, nephew and niece in Australia,
and cousin Billy and his wife June in Bacup.
Eileen enjoyed going on holiday with her daughter, squeezing in as many as possible each year.
She had a passion for the West of Ireland that she visited many times with Michael, researching his family history. She enjoyed dressmaking, knitting, puzzles and crosswords, farmhouse cooking, country walking, and she was an avid reader of historic novels.
