What a genuine kind hearted gent. He certainly had that sergeant major mentality and wasn’t afraid of speaking up for what he believed in. We had a brilliant day down at the Houses of Parliament getting a tour around and having a typical laugh and joke together although Mal was in a lot of pain with his leg which did concern the rest of us but he just soldiered on stubbornly. I’ll miss his stories of Northern Ireland where he did some pretty impressive jobs. Mal also volunteered with the Common Wealth War Graves Commission helping to clean and maintain local war graves in Burslem cemetery along with other fellow veterans where we got frequent updates on his budgies which he loved very much. I’ll miss you Mal rest easy brother until we meet again.
