Michael HarbourNMichael N Harbour, who died of cancer aged 63, was an actor of more than 40 years' experience known for his theatrical and television appearances.The high point of his career was his portrayal of the proud victim John Proctor in a 1980 BBC production of The Crucible at Theatre Royal Stratford which won the approval of Arthur Miller. “That is John Proctor,” the playwright said of Mr Harbour’s performance when he saw the tape.Other stage credits included A Little Night Music, Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Zorro The Musical, The Invisible Man and My Fair Lady.To television audiences he was most recognisable as Trevor Wilson, wife of nurse Kate (played by Sorcha Cusack), a character who featured in 31 episodes in the mid 1990s. He also appeared in numerous televisions plays in the 1970s, the 1986 serial Bluebell, The Bill (1984, 1998 and 2008), Heartbeat (2000 and 2007), Midsomer Murders (2004) and several others.He also had a handful of minor film roles throughout his career, most recently acting in scenes eventually cut from Tim Burton’s version of Sweeney Todd (2007).Michael Ninian Harbour was born on 4 July, 1945, and began acting at the age of six. He studied at Rose Bruford drama college in Kent in the late 1960s, then joined the BBC radio repertory company.As well as his acting career, Mr Harbour was also a keen folk singer. He lived in East London but enjoyed spending time in Cornwall.He died on 9 April, 2009, and was survived by his wife Lesley, their daughters, Emma and Kate, and six grandchildren.
