TonyNAMOBITUARY Announcing the passing of Tony (Anthony) Nam. Tony Nam, formerly of Water Street and St. Catherine's Street Carmarthen, died at the age of 78 years, on the 8th June after surgery at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Beloved husband of Marian, much loved father of Mark, his only child and son of his late first wife Shirley, daughter in law Kayi, cherished and loved grandfather of Kimberley, Annabel and Jamie. He was stepfather to Ian, Martin and Sian also step grandfather to Alexander, Andrew and Elsi who loved him dearly. He was the youngest of four brothers and also had seven sisters. He will be sadly missed by his surviving siblings Sidney, Rosalie, David, Elizabeth, Lisa and the extended Nam family worldwide. Tony attended the Model and Queen Elizabeth Grammar Schools in Carmarthen. He qualified as a Chartered Chemical Engineer and was a Fellow of the Institution of Gas Engineers. He was employed at the Head Office of Wales Gas as Operation Distribution Engineer before becoming the Chief Gas Engineer in Hong Kong. The Government there had recently created a new Standards Organisation and he led this Organisation which was responsible to monitor and improve all aspects of the gas supply operations for the city. Tony had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. His faith guided and encouraged him for the last 40 years of his life. He had peace with God wherever he lived be it Hong Kong, Wales or with his late wife Shirley and most recently with his widow Marian. He served the Lord Jesus who always came first. His desire to serve others was exceptional. The effect he had on the lives of others was remarkable; he has left a lasting legacy. He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed. The funeral services were held at Bethel Baptist Church, Pontyclun and at the Bridgend Crematorium. Donations in lieu of flowers to Velindre Hospital, Cardiff.
