So sad to be reading this - Eddie was my half brother but I never knew him as he had left home before I was born. I did briefly connect with him via a couple of letters after our Mum died - I recall him telling me he was a Probation Officer and I think he lived in Brough. I’ve kept trying to find him in recent years but to no avail.

My son Ben Aked was an army cadet under Leroy and I had many an occasion to associate with him. I found him to be a very kind man who was always keen to help the cadets in a very caring and understanding way. My daughter married a servicemen and he forgot his white uniform belt for the wedding. Leroy to the rescue and he duly loaned him his dress belt for the wedding ceremony. Truly one of the nicest men I’ve had the pleasure in knowing.
