William BurnNESS(Byker) Suddenly but peacefully on 12th May 2021, aged 96 years. Beloved husband of the late Molly, much loved dad of Brenda, Joyce and John, dear father-in-law of Alan, loving granda and great granda. Cremation will take place at the West Road Crematorium. By request family flowers only, donations to The British Heart Foundation.

I met Billy in 2019 during the D-Day Anniversary at Ranville Cemetary where he was visiting the grave of Stoney, it is a meeting that will stay with me forever, I was so proud to have met a hero who fought for our freedom. I hope he can be remembered fondly and when I visit Ranville I will hold him deeply in my thoughts as I leave a memorial at the headstone of Stoney as I promised him I would in his honor. God Bless you Billy I will never forget the stories you shared xx
