JeanNIXONOn July 21, Jean Nixon of Huncoat passed away peacefully in hospital, aged 85 years. The dearly beloved wife of Frank, much loved mum of Michael, Andrew, Carolyne and Anthony, dear mother-in-law of Sue and Paul, loving nanna of Leon, Duane, Simone, Lisa, Amanda and great nanna of Liam, Harry, Emily and Toby also a dear twin sister to Geoffrey. Jean worked in a shoe factory, soling the shoes before working as a nursery nurse. She later became a cleaner at Accrington & Rossendale College and also worked as a barmaid at The Dyers & Finishers and the Spread Eagle at Barrow. Jean thoroughly enjoyed her bar work and loved the banter with the customers. She was always smiling and enjoyed being in company. She was talented and artistic and the family go-to for carnival dresses and costumes. Jean was also a great cook and her ginger biscuits were legendary. At her happiest cooking for her family, she could make a hearty meal out of nothing. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and baking and she took great pride in creating a warm and inviting home for her family, where her caring and loving ways made her an essential figure in their lives. Her positive and sunny disposition, along with her kind and caring nature, left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Jean’s devotion to her family was evident, and her ability to always be smiling brought joy and comfort to those around her. Though Jean may no longer be with us, she will be remembered for the vibrant and loving person she was, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
