Aunty Mary was not my real auntie, but she was my Godmother and my late Mum’s best friend. Growing up in Congleton, our two families were incredibly close and Mary was a huge part of my life.

When my Mum was ill, Mary looked after me and supported me through some of the hardest days of my life. I will always be eternally grateful for the love, kindness and care she showed me. She was there during my Mum’s final days, offering the same love and support that only a devoted friend, mother and Godmother could give.

It meant so much to me to be able to return some of that love by inviting Mary and Katie to our wedding in 2015. It was a privilege to have them there to share such a special day with us. I was also proud to introduce Mary to my daughter Edie when she was born in 2017.

Sadly, I only have a small number of photos and videos to share, and I wish I had many more memories captured over the years.

Aunty Mary, I will miss you dearly. I take comfort in knowing that Mum has her best friend with her once again.

Thank you for everything.

Love,
Dan, Colette and family xxxx

‘Aunty’ Mary, not my real Aunty, but my Mum’s best friend and partner in crime. Our families grew up together, birthdays, christenings, holidays, we were always together and Mary was always the life and soul. So many memories, so many happy times, too many to mention. ‘Aunty’ Mary was a cornerstone of our childhood and I miss those days. Hopefully Mum and Mary are sharing a bottle of wine tonight, having a laugh and putting the world to rights. X
