I first met Mavis in 1980 when she, Pat and Joyce made a surprise visit to Canada to see Pat's brother and my husband, Rick. Our younger son, Chris, was only a few days old, and other two were preschoolers. I was so impressed by Mavis and the others' kindness and willingness to pitch in and help with the children, cooking, etc. Mavis was full of life and enjoyed the excursions we were able to make. Since that time, Rick and I have been to Derby several times, and Mavis has also been to Canada with some of the family, including to our daughter's wedding in 2004. While in England, we accompanied her and other family members to many places, including Spain, Scotland, Cornwall, and, most recently in 2014 to Yorkshire.

She was an amazing woman with many talents. As well as a devoted wife and mother, she worked as a nurse, caterer, employee at the local Georgian museum and many others. She'll be missed by many people including myself, but never forgotten.

Deepest regards

Be at peace aunt Mavis. I wish I could have spent more time with you but I will always remember your singing and kindness and laughter.
You were so lived by so many.
