JenniferO'CONNELLIt is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer O’Connell on Friday, January 10 aged 78 years.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jennifer’s warmth and vibrancy touched everyone who knew her.
Jennifer left school at 15 years old to work on the switchboard at David Whitehead’s, later joining her father, Harold Hoyle, at Rossendale Road Springs.
After starting a family, she worked with her husband Bernard at B and J O’Connell, manufacturing slippers until his passing in 1999.
A lifelong lover of dance, Jennifer enjoyed line dancing and rock ’n’ roll, especially on Saturday nights at the IDL. She also created beautiful tapestries and read tarot cards for friends and families.
An active member of her community, Jennifer was involved with the Soroptimists of Haslingden, the Conservative Club and the Lifeboat Association. She was also passionate about raising funds for animal charities.
She leaves behind her daughters, Samantha and Natasha, brother John, son-in-law Ewan, twin granddaughters Mathilde and Beatrix and cousins Jean and Leonard.
A celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held at St Peter’s Church, Laneside on Thursday, January 30, at 12pm, followed by the interment at Haslingden Cemetery and then finally gathering at Rossendale Golf Club. All who remember Jennifer are warmly invited to join us in celebrating her life.
Floral tributes may be sent to Fred Hamer Funeral Services.
