MargaretO'CONNOR (GRAY)Mrs Margaret Laurina O’Connor (Margaret Gray) sadly passed away on Tuesday, September 13 at Royal Blackburn Hospital, after her brave battle with Motor Neurone Disease. Margaret was the daughter of the late Mr Cyril Gray and the late Mrs Amy Gray. She was born in Britannia, Bacup. Margaret attended Britannia Primary School and Black Thorn, where she was a popular pupil. After her school life, she worked for Johnson’s as a shoe operative and became very skilled in her trade. In her later years, she married the late Mr John O’Connor and dedicated her life to raising seven children. She loved all animals and was a keen gardener. Her other hobbies included dancing, jigsaw puzzles, shopping, travelling the UK with her late husband, and sewing and she was a big fan of soap operas. Margaret leaves behind her children Nicola, Lisa, Andrew, John, Terry, Adam, Sarah and partners, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister June, brothers Cyril, Brian, Thomas, Stuart, Donald and their partners. She also leaves nieces, nephews and cousins. A service will be held at Knight & Boys Funeral Home in Stacksteads on Wednesday, September 28 at 10.30am, followed by a cremation service at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am, with refreshments at the Rose & Bowl afterwards. Flowers can be given and/or donations can be made to MND Association. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff on C8 Ward at Royal Blackburn Hospital and Margaret’s dedicated MND team for treating her with great care, dignity and respect. Funeral director: Paul Swarbrick for Knight & Boys, Stackstead.
